William Altmann

William completed his Emperor series with Emperor Second, Emperor Third, and Emperor Fourth in the fall of 2020, bringing across some of the favorite characters from Emperor First. He paints a picture of a political future that we might dream to see. Those of you from William's hometown and college days will recognize many settings in Emperor First.

And the Mary Jane Gang series of cozy fiction now has SEVEN volumes! William added O'Brian to the list in February 2023.

He's added a new genre: hard science fiction adventure. In On a Comet started it off as a novelette. Then what has become a 5-book series, The Merimnae Saga, beginning with Outbound - a kind of medical/psychological mystery. The sequel, Inbound, continues the adventure; and the third, Unbound, seals the deal. During 2022, William continued with Rebound in 2023, and then Homebound in 2024. The themes of isolation and history reverberate through all the books. Teaser: there are more to come!

During the COVID lockdown, William took a few news stories from Vermont and wrote a short novel, The Blossomfield Affair. The setting is in western New York state - a territory familiar to him and to many of his readers.

And he took up a challenge, and wrote a satirical novel, with four alternate endings, all in the same book, Escape Pod. Choose how you want the hero (or villain) to end up!

His love of books, travel and history have combined to create a swirl of action which continued to touch down in many of his favorite locations.

He loves the outdoors and loves to read. Books surround him in his home in Austin, Texas, as they have in previous homes around the country. He has prowled through used book stores in at least thirty countries, using sightseeing as an excuse to get there.
